35th Annual South Carolina Peanut Party
August 12 - 13, 2016
The Peanut Party has been an annual August event for 35 years. Our local townsfolk, as well as those from the surrounding Lexington County area, look forward to it as entertainment for their families - alcohol free, music, food, parade, amusements, crafts, and special exhibits. Kick off this special event on Friday, August 12th with the opening ceremony and blessing of the pots at 5PM. Enjoy the P-Nutty Cooking Contest, Palmetto Amusement Rides and evening entertainment. On Saturday, August 13th, there will be a book sale and parade. Plus, boiled peanuts, crafts & exhibitors, music entertainment, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich eating contest and more! Reggaetronic Lake Murray Music Festival

The Reggaetronic Lake Murray Music festival is a celebration of music and togetherness igniting the soul of Columbia and Lake Murray. This unforgettable outdoor festival is the perfect tribute to giving back to the community while closing out the summer.
On Saturday, August 13th, South Carolina’s largest lake festival, Reggaetronic 2016 will take to the water at beautiful Lake Murray.

38th Annual Jubilee: Festival of Heritage
September 17, 2016 from 11AM - 6PM
Celebrating the rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of a local family, the Jubilee: Festival of Heritage is held annually in late summer on the grounds of the historic Mann-Simons Site. Jubilee features a variety of activities including hands-on demonstrations from some of the region’s most skilled artists and craftsmen, musical entertainment including African drumming, R&B, jazz, and gospel, and vendors with African-influenced and traditional merchandise. Highlights of the festival also include tours of the Mann-Simons Site, African-American heritage sites tours, and many other activities throughout the day. 30th Annual "Dam Run" 10K
September 17, 2016 at 7:30AM
This year's 30th Annual "Dam Run" 10K, along with a 6K Dam Walk, features a beautiful, well marked and fast 10K USA Track & Field certified race course. It begins on the Lexington side of the Lake Murray Dam and finishes at the boat ramp area inside Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission's Saluda Shoals Park. The race will run across the upper level of the Lake Murray Dam, with a beautiful view of the lake and finish the last mile inside scenic, tree lined Saluda Shoals Park. Riverbanks Zoofari

The 2016 Riverbanks Zoofari is the wildest fundraiser in town! Enjoy live entertainment and sample Southern-fusion cocktails and cuisine. Bid on unusual silent and live auction items and get a behind-the-scenes look at the giraffes. Irmo Okra Strut Festival
September 23 - 24, 2016
The 43rd Annual Irmo Okra Strut is scheduled for September 23 - 24, 2016. Enjoy a street dance on Friday night featuring headlining entertainers: Atlanta Rhythm Section. The Okra Strut Parade, South Carolina's largest parade, will be held September 24th from 9 - 11AM. Following the parade, enjoy musical entertainers, carnival rides, an okra eating contest and arts and crafts vendors. The Lexington Medical Center Irmo Okra Strut Festival is held in the NEW Irmo Community Park, conveniently located off of Lake Murray Boulevard at 7507 Eastview Drive in Irmo, SC. The City of Columbia’s Summer Movies Series will kick off on Friday, June 3 at Finlay Park, 930 Laurel Street. Movies will be shown on Friday nights from June 3 through July 29. The movies are free and open to the public. Pre-show activities begin at 7:30 p.m. Movies will begin at sunset. Attendees can bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers. Free Summer Concert Series Returns at Finlay Park

Celebrate the summer with live music at Finlay Park during the City’s free Summer Concert Series. This year’s lineup will feature a variety of local favorites and national recording artists who will display their musical talents at the Finlay Park stage until August, according to the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. Performances will be held from 7 to 10PM. All concerts will be held in Finlay Park, 930 Laurel St. The concerts are free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs. No pets, glass or alcoholic beverages allowed. Food vendors will be available. For more information, please click here
