Southeastern Piano Festival

Each summer the Southeastern Piano Festival transforms the University of South Carolina School of Music and Columbia into a major cultural destination that draws in audiences and young piano talent from across the United States. The Southeastern Piano Festival embraces a multi-faceted personality: it is a high-level training platform for the young pianists, a presenter of new and world-renowned concert pianists and master teachers, an advocate for new piano music, and a vehicle for exploring different roles the piano plays on stage and beyond. The week's events culminate with the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, adjudicated by a distinguished panel of judges. Winners of the competition receive cash awards and the opportunity to perform with the South Carolina Philharmonic. The 2015 Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen Pageant promises to be a vibrant, colorful and exciting event. Each of the contestants compete in the preliminaries Tuesday, June 23 through Thursday, June 25, 2015. The final night of competition will held on Saturday, June 27, 2014. All competitions will be held once again at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina. Lexington County Peach Festival

As the Lexington County Peach Festival celebrates its 57th year on July 4th, the Festival offers a full day of fun with the celebration of America’s birthday. Arts and crafts, children’s rides, and great foods will be available for varying fees in the Gilbert Community Park on Rikard Circle. A parade, three stages of entertainment, an antique tractor and farm equipment display, a car show, a Revolutionary War Re-enactment, and a fireworks show will be available without charge. The Revolutionary War Re-enactment will host cannon firings at specific times of the day as well as a reading of the Declaration of Independence at noon. Enjoy the activities, the shade, and the BBQ, hot dogs, hamburgers, and peach cobbler. BBQ plate lunches will be available in the park beginning at 11AM. Other food items available are BBQ pork and chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, peach ice cream, peach cobbler, peach slush, peach parfaits, peach zip, peach berry split, peach sundaes, peach tea, peach delights, fresh peaches, soft drinks, bottled water, and iced tea. Lake Murray Fireworks Celebration

South Carolina's largest fireworks display will begin at dusk (approximately 9:15PM) on Saturday, July 4th ta the beautiful Lake Murray. Fireworks will be set off from two great locations: Spence Island and Dreher Island State Park. The show is choreographed to a patriotic concert that will air simultaneously on B106.7. The best places to view the fireworks are Dreher Island State Park and both parks at the Lake Murray dam. Bring a chair or blanket, picnics are welcomed. Alcohol is not permitted at any of the locations.
XTERRA Harbison Half Marathon

The 2015 XTERRA Harbison Half Marathon and 5K is scheduled for July 12, 2015. We are 'Hot on the Trail' and invite you to join us for a true XTERRA experience in the state of South Carolina. The Columbia SC Model Train Show is FREE for kids under 12! Enjoy continuous drawings for Children's books, whistles, Lionel videos, wooden Thomas & Friends Toys and O gauge / HO / N individual cards. Plus, a Lionel Ready-To-Run set will be given away to a child under 12! There will be Thomas & Friends wooden train tables for kids under 8 to play with during the show and Four O-Gauge trains for kids to run themselves with adult supervision.
