Holiday Lights on the River

Experience the Midlands largest drive-through lights show as Saluda Shoals Park comes alive in a blaze of more than a million sparkling lights. Take a journey through colorful lights and over 400 animated light displays of all shapes and sizes! Create lasting family memories this year at Holiday Lights on the River.
Fun-filled family activities will be offered every night during Holiday Lights on the River:
- Ride the Hayride shuttle to the Wetland Walking trail
- Ride the Saluda Shoals train
- Walk along the lighted trail to the Wetland and enjoy a laser light show
- Visit Santa's Claus'et Gift Shop
- Visit and have a photo with Santa (Dec. 9– 23 only)
Nominal fees may apply for activities.There's a brand new Holiday Lights entrance off St. Andrews Road! All Holiday Lights traffic will enter Saluda Shoals Park at the east entrance located between Wendy's and Aldi at 6071 St. Andrews Road and exit onto Bush River Road. Holiday Lights visitors will enjoy an all new route this year. There will be no Holiday Lights entrance on Bush River Road. Click here for additional information.

Holiday Market is the largest fundraiser for the Junior League of Columbia (JLC). Approximately 150 merchants from across the country sell merchandise during a themed shopping extravaganza, which includes a preview party, ladies only shopping event, and a children’s event with the season’s biggest celebrity, Santa! This four-day shopping event raises over $250,000, which is used to support Junior League of Columbia mission and programs, which includes furthering our vision of strengthening the health and well-being of children and families in the Midlands. Each year, members log over 1800 volunteer hours in the community and work with over 30 community partners to help fund over 50 community projects. Click here for additional information.
The 50th Annual Governor’s Carolighting

Kick off the month of December at the 50th Annual Governor’s Carolighting. A variety of choirs and musical talent from across the state will provide live entertainment leading up to the lighting of the State Christmas tree. This year the Carolighting will coincide with First Thursday on Main, so get ready for an entire evening of holiday fun in the heart of the capital city!

Celebrate the holidays at this special open house event in Five Points. Stores will be open late and offering terrific sales and complimentary refreshments. From candy and clothing to skateboards and wine, it will all be available at the Five Points Starry Night celebration. 63rd Annual Carolina Carillon Holiday Parade

The 63rd Annual Carolina Carillon Holiday Parade will be held Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 featuring Hometown Holiday entries from all across the state of South Carolina! The parade will begin at 9:45AM at Gervais and Bull Streets and proceed west on Gervais. It will pass in front of the State House, and continue into the Vista to Park Street. With nearly 100 entries, last year's Carillon featured a number of festive entries, including The Swansea High School Marching Band, Shriners, City Year and others. This year there will be some very special SC celebrities, new high school marching bands, drill teams, local churches, dozens of beautiful floats, and of course, the most exciting part of the parade, Santa Claus! Come celebrate the holiday season at Sweet Seasons - a community Christmas tree lighting ceremony that happens every year in early December. What started as a small community event in the parking lot at city hall has grown into a large celebration with thousands of attendees held each year on the rooftop of Richland Mall's parking deck. Enjoy live music, food and drink vendors, drawings for door prizes and even an appearance from Santa. Our city council, led by the mayor, will turn on the city's holiday decorations and officially kick off the season in Forest Acres. The Chick-fil-A Classic is a premier national high school basketball tournament hosted at Richland Northeast High School (Columbia, SC). This year’s tournament will be our 15th annual. Game schedule and brackets will be announced in November. Many of the the tournament’s top senior players signed or plan to sign their national letters of intent.
