Annual South Carolina Peanut Party
November 2-3, 2018
Farmers in Pelion, a mere 20 miles or so from Columbia, have been producing and harvesting peanuts for years. It has long been an autumn tradition for the townspeople to gather for the annual boiling of the peanuts. Today, members of the Pelion Ruritan Club continue the tradition at the annual Pelion Peanut Party. The Ruritans use a secret recipe for boiling the peanuts; however, they are more than happy to share the final product with festival-goers. This year’s festival features a craft show, parade, car show, cooking contest, 5K, softball tournament and more. Click here for additional information.
Walk to End Alzheimer's

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. 31st Annual Chili Cook-Off in Five Point

The #5PointsChiliCookOff in Five Points gives you the chance to watch teams battle it out for Columbia's best chili! Join us for over 30 awesome chilis, live music, children's area, craft beers, cornhole and more! The best part? The event is FREE! Chilis will be tried by our panel of 10 experts and judged in the following categories: Overall Best Chili, Best Vegetarian, Best Texas Style, Best Non-Traditional. All teams will also be competing for "Best Set-Up" and "The Group Therapy Silver Spoon Award" for the most monies raised. Click here for more information.

Repticon is coming to Jamil Temple! Repticon, a nationwide promoter of reptile and exotic animal expos, brings its unique blend of vendors, breeders and educators back to Columbia for a family-oriented, fun-filled event. The expo brings thousands of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, spiders and small exotic animals to area enthusiasts. Top breeders and vendors will offer animals, merchandise, cages, supplies, live and frozen feeders, and their expert advice where needed. Help kick off the Midlands’ longest running holiday tradition, Lights Before Christmas, by making tracks to Riverbanks’ first annual 5k race. The wild run will wind through the park’s scenic back roads, cross the Saluda River and pass some of the most popular exhibits in the Zoo! Welcome to the Town of Terror Falls! Visit if you dare! But beware, you may hear the screams and screeches of past visitors who have become close-knit residents of the Town of Terror Falls. Stop by Meemaw’s Bed and Breakfast and hang out on our patio, but watch where you step as things may not be as they seem. Walk the Terror Trail through the haunted swamp and stop for a snack at Uncle Rick’s Smokehouse. Rumor has it, Uncle Rick helps Meemaw supply her legendary breakfast specials! You can also stop by the Field of Distortion and help the search party find our dear friend, Lydia. She is believed to have been last seen taken by two of the Terror Falls residents. Grab a treat at the Terror Falls General Store and enjoy it around the firepit. Don’t worry too much if the residents are in rare form, we have a full on-call staff at the Terror Falls Hospital. While wearing your glasses, you will be surrounded with astonishingly detailed artwork, ghastly monsters with their toys, and 3D effects sure to have you questioning your sanity. You will then be transported to a dark and desolate farm, inhabited by unspeakable creatures hoping to make you this year's harvest! Just when you think you have made it out alive, you will be plunged into 2 acres of dark cornfields. Good luck escaping the horror hiding behind the stalks.
